Specialty Doctor – Palliative Medicine

Full time or Part time (minimum 0.4 WTE)
Salary: as per NHS Scales (FTE £41,158 - £76,751 depending on experience)

Hospice in the Weald is purpose-built with 15 beds, in a glorious rural setting. We have a busy Ward, including day case procedures, a large Hospice Outreach Service,  Hospice Day Service,  Counselling and Support service, Hospice Appointments and our newly opened Cottage Hospice service. 

Current medical staff includes two Consultants, a Specialty Registrar, a GP trainee and three part time Specialty Doctors. We have close links to the nearby Maidstone Oncology Centre and the Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury where our consultants have two sessions per week.

This position is suited to someone who is seeking further specialist palliative care experience and would be ideal for a candidate looking to apply for specialist training in the future or someone looking for a permanent Specialty Doctor role.  There are opportunities to gain experience of palliative care provision in all settings – Hospice Ward, Hospice Day Service, patients’ homes, and care homes as well as hospital settings.   At our brand-new and innovative Cottage Hospice service there will be opportunity to be involved in assessing and supporting patients using this facility, the very first of its kind in the UK. 

It is anticipated that this post holder will be able to take part in audit and quality improvement activities as well as educational and research projects. 

You will be a strong team player with excellent communication and IT skills.  

Start date to be agreed. Initially a six-month post with view to extend.
