Job Details

The formation of Managed Clinical Networks across Scotland is seen as a key element of a national strategy for improved care for cancer patients Cancer in Scotland: Action for Change. Their overarching aim is to achieve equitable provision of high quality care across the region.   

The North Cancer Alliance is the regional network that serves to improve cancer care for around 1.2 million people living in the North of Scotland (an area covered by 6 health boards), through the commissioning and co-ordination of cancer services.  Within the network, there are three main hospitals, which provide Gynaecological Cancer Care and which are also Cancer Centres. These are Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, and Raigmore Hospital, Inverness.   

Applicants are invited to apply for a subspecialist Gynaecological Oncology post within the North Gynaecological Cancer Network.    

The advertised post will ensure:

The continued provision of an integrated and comprehensive Gynaecological Oncology service for all women with Gynaecological cancer in the North of Scotland, and that

The expanded team will continue to deliver enhanced service and service improvement that is responsive to the needs of the patient group and projected demographic changes. 

Specifically there is a need to achieve the targets set by the Scottish Ovarian, Cervical and Endometrial cancer Quality Performance Indicators (QPIs).

Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from date of interview. 
Alternatively, applicants should possess a CESR / CESR (CP).    
 
Applications from doctors with appropriate specialist training and experience who are not listed on the GMC Specialist Register can be considered for a Locum Consultant post (up to 12 months) if no substantive Consultant appointment is made.  Whilst in locum employment, an application to obtain a CESR / CESR (CP) and entry onto the Specialist Register can be made. (Not needed for Fixed Term)
