Consultant Interventional Neuroradiologist
This is an opportunity to join a busy and aspiring department of 6 neuroradiologists who provide a comprehensive specialist diagnostic and interventional service. The post holder will join a team of 2 neurointerventionalists to provide tertiary neurointerventional and thrombectomy services to the entire region along with contribution to diagnostic neuroradiology.
Currently Neurosciences is undergoing an exciting period of investment for expansion and a new building to be completed in the next year. Brighton & Sussex NHS trust is a teaching hospital offering tertiary neurosciences services in the South East. We are a busy teaching hospital supporting an approx. 2 million population. With the upcoming merge with Western Sussex we will become the second largest Trust in the country. We have a Regional Neurosciences Unit, a level one Trauma centre and a Hyperacute Stroke Unit with a budding mechanical Thrombectomy service. A key consideration in advertising this post is in taking forward plans to offer a consistent Mechanical Thrombectomy service. There is an approved business case to expand the interventional neuroradiology workforce over the next five years in order to be able to provide a 24h service.
Brighton and Sussex is a vibrant part of the country to live in, surrounded by breathtaking countryside and with close links to London. We proudly offer supportive and inclusive employment and flexible working policies. The links to the University, the move to the new hospital and the investment in neurosciences offer opportunities for professional development.
The successful applicant should possess FRCR (or equivalent), should have undertaken accredited diagnostic and interventional Neuroradiology training and should be included on the Specialist Register within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview.
On 1st April 2021, Brighton, Sussex University Hospitals will be merging with Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to form a new NHS Foundation Trust that will bring together the very best of both organisations to innovate and improve the health of our communities and deliver outstanding, compassionate care locally whilst increasing the opportunities for specialised services to flourish in Sussex. This role will be subject to a TUPE transfer to Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust on 1st April as part of this merger
