Applications are invited for a dynamic full time Consultant in Neurology to actively develop and enhance services within Worcestershire. We would welcome and support applicants with a sub speciality interest, assist in development of such a role and facilitate a Tertiary neurosciences clinical role. This post will complement the service delivered by existing neurology consultants in the county. It is envisaged that this post will provide an excellent opportunity to significantly build on the existing service in Neurology.

Worcestershire is an excellent rural county with some delightful local sights and amenities. Local National and International links are easily accessible. The Second city of Birmingham with its entertainment and restaurant and cultural delights is a very short distance away and readily accessible. The county has some of the best schools and house prices amongst the UK, and is a highly desirable place to live and work.

The post holder will contribute to outpatient services for the Trust at Worcestershire Royal Hospital, Alexandra hospital or Kidderminster Treatment Centre by negotiation and agreement, providing advice on neurology problems for inpatients under other consultant teams, liaise with general practitioners on all aspects of neurology care and liaise with multidisciplinary Neurology service teams in the Regional Centre and in the community. The post holder will have an allocated secretarial assistant from within the department of Neurology.

There are close links with both the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham (QEHB) and University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire (UHCW) with the opportunity to develop outpatient pathways in any offered or preferred sub-speciality of Neurology and General Neurology. CME/SPA would be scheduled to take place at QEHB to allow attendance at consultants meeting, journal club etc. The Trust encourages and facilitates post holders to accumulate their CME both nationally and internationally.

Essential requirements include entry on the specialist register in Neurology (or entry expected within 6 months from date of interview) and clinical training/experience equivalent to that required for gaining (UK) CCST in Neurology. Applicants should hold full GMC registration with a Licence to Practise.
