Russells Hall Hospital
This is a Consultant post in Stroke Medicine, you will be required to support the Stroke department and participate in GIM on calls.
You will work for the Dudley NHS Foundation Trust full-time for at least 10 programmed activities (with 2 extra PAs available for extra activities).
You will be expected to work with the five other Consultants in Stroke Medicine to develop Stroke Services further in Dudley.
There are three full-time Consultants involved in the management of patients in the hyper-acute/acute stroke unit and stroke rehabilitation, and two part-time Consultants
Main duties of the job
The Trust currently provides a 24/7 stroke thrombolysis service. Currently, there are 7 one-stop TIA clinics per week and high-risk TIA patients are also seen in the unit daily.
Weekend ward rounds are undertaken in both hyper-acute/acute stroke and stroke rehabilitation units. The stroke unit is fully equipped with all investigation facilities (portable echo/TOE, carotid duplex, 7-day ECG monitoring, and trans-cranial Doppler).
Qualifications
- Degree from a recognised University MRCP (UK) / FRCS or recognised equivalent qualification Relevant professional qualifications
Registrations
- Essential Full GMC registration with a licence to practice Eligible for entry in GMC specialist register (within 6 months)
Experience
- Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCST/CST
