Consultants (2 posts) in Obstetrics & Gynaecology with interests in Fertility & Clinical Leadership

(Dependent on experience. Points 18-20 are by application and panel agreement)

Come to a place that is better for you, your family, and your patients. Jersey’s Health and Community Services Department runs the Island’s integrated, taxation-funded health and care system that is largely free at the point of delivery. With great weather, sandy beaches and beautiful surroundings, you will enjoy a better quality of life in our island community. In addition you will find an easy commute, and more time for yourself.

The General Hospital in Jersey is looking for two Consultants in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, one to lead the fertility services and the other to have Clinical Lead responsibilities. The Department currently has three substantive consultant posts, with approval to expand eventually to seven. The consultants are supported by six middle grade doctors and a complement of FY2 doctors and GP trainees.

There are approximately 1000 deliveries per year, supported by a Level 1 Neonatal Care Unit. We take great pride in providing a high quality service and are well supported by specialist links to UK tertiary units.

The posts attract 10 - 12 PAs (negotiable) within the Health and Community Services Department of the States of Jersey, based on but independent of the NHS UK. The Consultant Pay Scale is competitive as are the tax arrangements. A generous study leave budget allows Consultants to continue their professional development.

Full travelling expenses are paid from a UK port of entry, with a generous relocation package available. The post attracts residential qualifications and under Jersey Law, applicants must possess full registration with the General Medical Council and hold a licence to practise.

The States of Jersey is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable people (to include children) and requires all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. As this position will work with vulnerable people, the selection process will involve safeguarding measures and include an enhanced DBS check.

If you would like to discuss the post informally please call Mr Olujimi Jibodu, Clinical Lead for Obstetrics & Gynaecology via Jersey Hospital switchboard 01534 441991 or via email O.Jibodu@health.gov.je
