Swansea Bay NHS Health Board provides a broad range of community and inpatient services. The Health Board is one of the largest in Wales and the UK. The Mental Health Directorate is responsible for providing Adult Mental Health Services, Older People Mental Health Services, Substance Misuse Services, Forensic Psychiatry and Rehabilitation & Recovery Services.
SBU HB is committed to delivering quality driven mental Health services and we encourage applications from enthusiastic, highly motivated individuals to apply for our Specialty Doctor vacancy in Adult Psychiatry based in Forge centre, Port Talbot. Adult Mental Health services are based in Swansea, Neath & Port Talbot and Bridgend. The advertised post covers the Community Mental Health Team which is based at Forge Centre, Port Talbot.
The Health Board's Adult Mental Health Services are divided into inpatient/Crisis services (unscheduled care) and community services. The Neath Port Talbot locality currently has one inpatient psychiatric admission ward (Ward F, Neath Port Talbot Hospital), Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Service, two Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT's), these are North NPT (Gelligron) and South NPT (Forge). The CMHTs are multi professional with both Local Authority and Health Service Staff. The post-holder will be expected to work as part of a multi-disciplinary clinical team to ensure continuity of the care pathway from inpatient to community care. This is a 10 session post with no on call commitment.

Port Talbot is situated near Swansea which is Wales' second-largest city, and sits on the five-mile sweep of Swansea Bay. An ideal base for exploring south-west Wales, there's also much on offer for visitors in Swansea itself. Swansea has a range of shops, cozy cafes, great restaurants, art galleries as well as being able to offer good outdoor lifestyle with its beautiful coastline and beaches on the Gower Peninsula. Swansea also has excellent sporting facilities including the Wales National pool and liberty stadium home to the Ospreys and Swansea city Premier football club.
