We’re proud to say that our hard working, talented and dynamic workforce is our greatest asset. If you are a dynamic, innovative forward thinking clinician who would like to make a significant contribution to the Trust then you could become part of the team.

We can offer a supportive working environment – in first class facilities – where excellence and innovation is valued and celebrated; by providing excellent training and development opportunities, and by offering a comprehensive package of staff benefits.

The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust is a large multi-site Trust whose ambitious programme to reconfigure services in line with leading national and international care delivery models was completed in 2016.

The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals Children’s Service has an opportunity to welcome a dynamic, enthusiastic and motivated individual into the team.

We have new state of the art hospitals at Pontefract and Wakefield and are upgrading the existing Dewsbury Hospital to the same standard. Children’s Community services are delivered across the Wakefield district at both Pinderfields and Pontefract hospital. The Children’s community services work closely with our special schools and health centres helping to bring services out into the community as well as having hospital based services. Our multidisciplinary teams run a wide range of comprehensive services to our patients including:

  • Child Development Service
  • Dedicated Children’s Outpatients on 2 sites
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder Service
  • ADHD and QB testing Service
  • Children in Care service including Pre-adoption medicals and initial Health assessments.
  • Continence Service
  • Bowel Management Service
  • Community based Child development services – special schools
  • Sleep Clinics
  • Community based nursing teams
  • Social Communication service

Many in the department pursue interests such as research and/or have a strong commitment to service development and teaching; applicants with a shared enthusiasm for these areas are encouraged. Our team has a broad range of expertise and is proud of the improvements we have made and continue to make.

If you have an interest in delivering high quality Community Paediatric care and being in a supportive environment to further develop your career then this is the role for you.

The appointment will be on the basis of the new consultant contract laid down by the Hospital Medical and Dental Staff Terms and Conditions of Service and will be remunerated as appropriate on the salary scale £82,096 - £110,683 per annum.

If you would like further information please contact, Dr Kath Deakin, Head of Clinical Service for Children’s Services on 01924 542570.
