Workbase: Hull but currently expected to be working flexibly including homeworking.

We are looking for exceptional candidates for this opportunity to join our public health team in Hull and help to achieve our ambitious vision for the health and wellbeing of the city’s residents. 

The ideal candidate will be a proven strategic thinker with excellent leadership skills to lead and manage public health provision and policy, working across a range of service areas, and in partnership with other stakeholders and service providers. Effective interpersonal, motivational and influencing skills are key, as the post holder will be expected to provide public health technical/specialist leadership and guidance to senior managers, and direct and support stakeholders within the wider multi-agency environment. 

This is a challenging but exciting time to be joining the team who have been leading the drive to improve health and wellbeing in the city.

The postholder will be strategically responsible for a broad public health portfolio including children, young people and families, drugs and alcohol, and criminal justice. The post holder will also be strategically responsible for the health intelligence function. 

For this post you must be able to cope with multiple and changing demands, and to meet tight deadlines. A high level of intellectual rigour, political awareness, negotiation skills and flexibility is essential. You must be able to demonstrate a high level of tact, diplomacy and an ability to understand other cultures as well as advise, challenge and advocate across organisational boundaries in order to effectively influence stakeholders, senior Council staff and Local Authority Members.
