Consultant Acute Physician
We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and driven Consultant Acute Physicians at both our Alexandra Hospital and Worcester Royal Hospital sites. This is an exciting opportunity to join our expanding Acute Medicine team as we undergo countywide reconfiguration of clinical services, including a major expansion of our Urgent Care facilities.
As a suitably trained specialist, your application is invited to join our dynamic team of Acute Physicians working in our dedicated Acute Medical same day emergency care (SDEC) areas and Acute Medical Units (AMU), comprising medical admissions units and short stay wards across the county, supported by junior medical and nursing staff plus a team of Advanced Care Practitioners and Physicians Associates. Along with ambulatory care and inpatient short stay admissions, you will play an active part in the acute take on a rolling rota.
You will have the opportunity to facilitate further development of the Acute Medical SDEC and admissions services within the Trust. You will help pioneer the nurse-led triage service which facilitates GP and community admissions across the county to offer continued improvements in the assessment and treatment of urgent and emergency medical patients. There may be an opportunity for a leadership role within the Acute Medicine department for an appropriately qualified and interested candidate. The posts are site based and interviews will be held for positions on both acute Trust sites.
The Trust offers all major disciplines and a full range of support services in order to provide high quality inpatient and outpatient care to a population of 700,000. We have a strong commitment to the teaching of undergraduate medical students from the University of Birmingham. We have a well-established Medical Education team for both under- and postgraduate education, including a simulation centre.
This post would be ideal for candidates completing their specialist training and development of a specialist interest will be fully supported. The Trust supports the requirements for continuing education and professional development as laid down by the Royal Colleges and is committed to provide time in your job plan for these activities. A personal development review will be undertaken to discuss any needs and on-going training once you join the team.
You must possess full registration with a license to Practice with the General Medical Council and have completed higher training and be on the Specialist Register, or be within 6 months of obtaining CCT at the time of interview. Fixed term (Trust locum) posts will also be considered.
