The Mental Health and Learning Disabilities Service Group is responsible for providing Adult Mental Health Services, Older People Mental Health Services, Substance Misuse Services, Forensic Psychiatry and Rehabilitation & Recovery Services.

This post involves providing medical staff cover for the community perinatal mental health service based initially at Tonna Hospital. This is a well-established service and is continuing to grow in relation to recent ongoing investment into the team in line with the national guidance for community perinatal mental health services. The team is highly motivated and continues to raise the profile of perinatal services within the Health Board, across other statutory organisational and via the national network within Wales.

The plans are to collocate this community perinatal team with the new regional inpatient perinatal service currently being developed and commissioned in April 2021.

This post works closely with the other Inpatient Perinatal Consultant based in Tonna Hospital and also other consultants within the Mental Health and Learning Disabilities Service Group of SBU Health Board. There a significant amount of other consultants that also cover the other range of mental health and learning disabilities services currently provided across our Service Group.

Candidates who are successfully shortlisted for interview will be required to provide a 10 minute power point presentation through Microsoft Teams on the following topic:

No Health without Perinatal Mental Health? How will investment in services make a meaningful difference to women and their families?
