Situated off the south coast of England, the Isle of Wight covers 150 square miles with small towns and pretty villages, beautiful beaches and stunning countryside, over half of which is designated an area of outstanding natural beauty. The island boasts one of the best climates in the UK and an enviable lifestyle. Ventnor is a seaside town in a semi-rural area on the south east coast of the island and the two surgery buildings are situated in the town centre, occupying modern premises, with sufficient staff parking.  The Isle of Wight is popular with walkers, cyclists, water sport enthusiasts and is known for its slower pace of life. House prices are significantly lower than the majority of the South of England.

Ventnor Medical Practice (previously Ventnor Medical Centre & Grove House Surgery) is dedicated to providing first class service and treatment to its patients, 94% of whom rated the practices very good to excellent in a MORI patient survey. Prior to merger the practices were in the top 5% of GP Practices nationally. The Practice is committed to ensuring a good work life balance for the team and to actively support the aims and ideals of the South Primary Care Network and One Wight Health, the local GP Federation. Both Practices were training practices and currently the practice hosts a Registrar in his final year and a trainee Physician Associate.

This is an exciting time to join the newly merged GP team at the practice which is in the early stages of strategic and business development for the benefit of our 8500 patients.  This agenda will provide opportunities for an incoming GP to contribute to the development of the newly merged practice.  The aim ultimately is to create a beacon of outstanding primary healthcare in the South of the Isle of Wight. With the formation of primary care networks, this is also an offer to play a part in contributing to the development of the South (IW) PCN which consists of 3 forward thinking practices. PCN appointments include clinical pharmacist, social prescribers, pharmacy technician, MSK, mental health nurse with more being added shortly.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated, hardworking GP to join a friendly, experienced and well-motivated team from January 2021 as a Salaried GP with a view to partnership if interested. A full-time GP there would be expected to work eight sessions per week though there would also be the opportunity to work on a part-time basis as we are able to accommodate the needs of the applicant.
