We are looking for a versatile, enthusiastic individual to work with the existing Palliative Care Team at SHFT and help provide outstanding care to our service users and patients as they are at the center of everything we do.

There is also scope for two posts, totaling 16 sessions, should any applicant want to work less than full time.

ABOUT THE TEAM

The Palliative Care Team has an established team of four Consultants who are committed to providing medical input and leadership to the multi-professional, specialist palliative care service across inpatient hospice and community settings. This vacancy has arisen as a result of retirement from this team. The service is provided to those with any life limiting condition. This post will be managed by Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust, and will also have service responsibilities to Solent NHS Trust and The Rowans Hospice.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As a Clinician you will share responsibilities for the specialist medical care of patients receiving services at The Rowans Hospice and of patients receiving care from the Community Specialist Palliative Care Teams in Portsmouth City, Fareham & Gosport and South East Hampshire CCGs. This will be a rotational post spending time working in Hospice Inpatient and two community settings.

 

As part of ongoing development across our three organisations this post will look to focus on supporting Palliative Medicine education and supervision for training grade doctors, working within Rowans & NHS Trust resources and links already in place. The applicant should have an interest in clinical & educational supervision and the drive to further their skills & experience and education more generally as part of established EoL training partnerships in the locality. Experience or interest in supporting appraisal and revalidation processes would also be a positive asset.  

Please note that GMC registration (with a license to practice) and right to work in the UK are essential for this role. Successful applicants will already have GMC specialist registration or will be able to demonstrate they are eligible. Applicants requiring Tier 2 sponsorship should ensure they meet the Home Office application criteria prior to submitting an application.
