SPECIALTY DOCTOR

OLDER ADULT PSYCHIATRY

We are currently seeking a permanent Specialty Doctor in Older Adult Psychiatry to join our team dedicated to the delivery of older adult mental health services across North Highland.   Ideally you will be a motivated individual with good clinical experience and proven track record of working cohesively as part of a team dedicated to ensuring seamless service and person-centred approach to older adults experiencing both functional and organic mental health problems.    

The role is varied with the successful candidate having opportunity to work across community and inpatient services providing continuity of care for patients regardless of physical location. 

It is an exciting time to be working in older adult mental health services as the service is being reviewed and there is ongoing development underway to standardise the approach in line with best practice, national and local strategy.   Recent in-house developments include a stress and distress service including nurse led care home liaison.  In addition there are early plans to standardise the implementation of psychological interventions for people experiencing symptoms of stress and distress secondary to dementia.    

The post provides opportunity to work with colleagues contributing to the continuous development of Older Adult Psychiatry across North Highland. 

Post holders will be encouraged to develop a special interest in keeping with the needs of the service, and will participate in CPD and peer supervision.  A SAS Doctor peer group meet regularly and there are regular educational events organised as part of our in-house programme.
