Consultant Gastroenterologist (Luminal)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for 1 wte gastroenterologist to join both Whipps Cross and The Royal London Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust. At Whipps Cross, the appointee will work alongside 8 established gastroenterology consultants to support provision of inpatient and outpatient care for patients with general Gastroenterology problems. They will be expected to perform endoscopy, including being part of the GI Bleed rota. There are MDTs in HPB medicine and General Gastroenterology together with X-ray and pathology meetings. The Gastroenterologists are also part of the general medical rota on weekdays 1.14 (no Weekends). At the Royal London, the appointee will also support provision of in-patient and outpatient care for patients with Upper GI and functional gastroenterology as well as general Gastroenterology and endoscopy.
The appointee will also undertake teaching duties of undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff and other professional groups (such as nursing and pharmacy). He/she will participate in audit and governance also assist in local research projects.
This is a new post created to increase our capacity and substantive workforce across outpatient and inpatient gastroenterology and endoscopy at Whipps Cross and The Royal London Hospital.
Barts Health NHS trust, is one of largest Trusts in Europe, and Whipps Cross University hospital medicine division was awarded “good” at the 2019 CQC inspection.
