Public Health England provides strategic leadership and vision for protecting and improving the nation’s health. It will achieve this through the application of research, knowledge and skills. PHE is an executive agency of the Department of Health. This senior post is within the Tuberculosis Unit of the Tuberculosis; Acute Respiratory, Gastrointestinal, Emerging /Zoonotic Infections and Travel Health Division of the PHE National Infection Service that unifies microbiological, clinical infection, public health and epidemiological expertise to deliver a collaborative 5 Year Action Plan towards the elimination of TB in England, in line with WHO goals.

As part of a restructured team, the post holder will develop collaborations with NHS services delivering the clinical management of TB infection and disease, improving the diagnosis and management of active and latent TB and preventing TB transmission in England. They will play a key role in developing, shaping and assuring the TB prevention function. The team is involved with NIHR-funded Health Protection Research Units, collaborative ventures involving PHE and academia.

The post holder will be a medical consultant with experience in NHS clinical medicine and mycobacteriology, including genomic medicine, incident and outbreak management.
