Specialty Doctors - General Surgery - Permanent and Limited Term Appointments
Would you love the chance to work in a professionally satisfying role, whilst enjoying a fantastic work-life balance?
We are searching for motivated and enthusiastic Specialty Doctors in General Surgery to join our supportive and forward thinking team on the Isle of Man.
About the roles and our team
Noble’s Hospital is the Island’s only District General Hospital, and General Surgery offers a range of general surgical procedures to cater to the needs our Island population of approximately 85,000 people.
You will be involved in the day to day management of surgical patients both acute and elective at Noble’s Hospital, including ward rounds, clinics and assisting in theatre. Currently the on-call commitment is in the process of moving from a 1-in-8 to a 1-in-9 rota of 12-hour shifts, providing first on-call covering both Orthopaedics and General Surgery. You will share this rota with the other Orthopaedic and General Surgery Specialty Doctors.
As part of your role you will be receiving and acting on referrals from the Emergency Department, other hospital specialities and Primary Care. You are also expected to co-ordinate care with your supervising middle grade Doctor and/or Consultant. The rota is based on a shift system with compensatory rest periods to maintain compliance with your contracted hours. Specific details of the rota can be provided on request.
There are two positions available - one permanent and one limited term appointment until 31 July 2021.
What can this role offer me?
By joining us you’ll be stepping away from NHS pressures and demands, as the Island’s healthcare system is similar but separate to the UK NHS.
You will have access to our on-site Education and Training Centre and library, which includes our state of the art simulation lab.
The Isle of Man has been praised for its effective response to the global pandemic. Currently, due to the lack of cases in the community, people on the Island are enjoying a life free of social distancing regulations.
