We are looking for a NHS Consultant to join our regional service and become an integral part of the Radiology team, based across our 3 Hospital sites.

The important role that Radiology plays in the delivery of safe and effective patient centred care is seen as a critical priority by both Health Boards within the South West Wales Region.

This appointment forms part of a broader strategy to develop and strengthen the multi-disciplinary team supporting this service and will be key to the delivery of service expansion aims over the coming years.

We currently have 25 Consultant Radiologists delivering excellent radiology services over a range of specialities. This post will support the specialist services currently offered in Swansea Bay.

Swansea Bay University Health Board includes the busy tertiary referral centre of Morriston Hospital, the less acute, Oncology orientated Singleton Hospital by the beach, and our Outpatient & Day case focussed Neath Port Talbot Hospital Site. If you have an interest in education, many of our radiologists deliver sessions of dedicated teaching at the National Imaging Academy for Wales which is 40 minutes away along the M4. We also regularly teach medical students from Swansea University.

The Department offers many varied opportunities to capture all career aspirations within Radiology. Research and Development and teaching are fundamental to the service as a result of close working links with Swansea University Medical School, currently ranked 4th in the UK.

As a new team member we will support you to participate in the Consultant Development Programme and offer you a bespoke multi-professional training opportunity in Clinical Leadership or an Academic Programme. Day release to learn specialist skills in another institution will also be supported.

Swansea Bay University Health Board is situated in one of Wales’ areas of outstanding natural beauty. Offering stunning beaches and coastlines whilst the Brecon Beacons National Park is less than an hour away. Local communities are welcoming with many highly ranked independent schools and colleges within the locality. Rail and road links are excellent with all of our Swansea Bay Hospitals being situated along the M4 corridor.

As part of your interview you will be required to provide a 10 minute power point presentation on the following topic:

What do you see as the main areas of expansion for PET Imaging in Wales, how might this be acheived'

Applicants are encouraged to visit the Hospital and surrounding area. For an informal and confidential chat please contact Dr Toby Wells (Clinical Director) at Toby.Wells@wales.nhs.uk
