The Emergency Department Team at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust are seeking to appoint two enthusiastic and quality driven Consultant colleagues to expand our existing team. An attractive joining package is available, the details of which are to be agreed with the successful candidates.
Come and work with us at one of the busiest and best performing Emergency Departments of Greater Manchester. With delivery of best possible patient care and innovation at heart, our department has come leaps and bounds to achieve high standards and quality of care.
Wigan is the second largest borough of Greater Manchester with a population of approximately 325,000. Wigan Emergency Department has an average of 90,000 patient visits per year. Wigan ED is proud to be a Trauma Receiving Unit and works closely with the Major Trauma Centres in Greater Manchester.
The team has also been highly commended by NHSI and ECIST for innovative measures utilised in patient flow with streaming to relevant areas, utilising an ambulatory patient pathway and the clinical decisions area for patients.
At WWL, there is a significant scope for motivated Consultants to take a lead in shaping the future of emergency care on both a local and regional level. The Trust will support Consultants in developing a special interest within Emergency Medicine such as Academic Emergency Medicine, Paediatric Emergency Medicine, Trauma, Education, Guidelines, Governance and Emergency Ultrasound.
Successful candidates will have the opportunity to enjoy the variety of clinical practice that comes from working in a busy district general hospital whilst developing their own special interest both clinically and non-clinically. Flexible working patterns and special interest in other specialties will be supported.
You will be responsible, along with the other Consultants for developing and maintaining the high standard of care we provide to our patients.
