This is an exciting and unique opportunity for an Endocrinologist who is passionate about developing improved patient centred services and contributing to education and training of junior staff.

The post has two components:

The first component of this post will be to become an active member of the Endocrinology department.  The endocrinology elements to the post are to support the Endocrine department specialist outpatient services, contribution to the management of endocrine complications of cancer treatment and the long-term hormonal consequences experienced by cancer survivors.

Secondly, the appointee will join a team of oncologists and general medics in delivering and developing the inpatient service for oncology patients at The Christie Hospital main site. As part of the Acute Oncology team, the post holder will help provide daily senior cover for the 80 Oncology base ward beds with patients admitted via both emergency and elective streams.  The consultant will provide a board round and direct consultant reviews and will be principally responsible for the acute management of each patient, liaising with primary oncology teams for on-going cancer management.  Another key role of this post is to provide junior doctor supervision, education and support for their inpatient work.

Informal enquiries welcomed by Professor Peter Trainer, via 0161 446 3664 or Dr Michael Leahy, Associate Medical Director via 0161 446 8384
