East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust requires a Trust Grade Renal Registrar.

East Kent Hospitals is a pioneering Trust that is currently on an exciting journey of healthcare transformation. We are looking for staff who are passionate about people to help us deliver first-class care.

As one of the largest acute Trusts in the country, we have five sites across east Kent and care for more than 2000 people every day, employing over 8000 staff.

We have lots of great opportunities for dynamic and forward-thinking staff to deliver great healthcare and develop their career.

The Renal Department provides a regional renal service across 3 acute hospital Trusts including Medway and Maidstone catchment areas. The department is friendly, supportive, professional and willing to invest time in supporting your own professional development by offering excellent training and educational opportunities and career support.

You will be joining a team of 9 junior doctors working in the renal department: this usually comprises of 4 Specialist Renal Registrars, 1 GP trainee, 1 IMT, 2 FY2s and an FY1.

The junior team is responsible for day to day management of patients on the renal ward (Marlowe Ward), for any outlying renal patients within the hospital and taking referrals from our regional hospitals. You will also be required to take part in a variety of outpatient clinics including Peritoneal Dialysis, Advanced Kidney Care and Transplantation. You will support the acute and chronic haemodialysis programme, plasma exchange service and day case procedures.

Depending on the applicant’s experience we would look to develop this role into a senior registrar post to develop involvement in management, leadership and quality improvement within the department, or in the case of a more junior applicant help to support application to a Formal training post.

The On-call rota is a 1:5 Non-Resident rota paid at band 1A and with a half day off after a rostered on-call.

If you wish to discuss the post please contact Beverley Stephenson-Luckhurst: Direct line: 01227 864318.
