Clinical Fellow in Neurorehabilitation Medicine – Foundation Year 3 or Core Medical Trainee level

Somerset NHS Foundation Trust (Musgrove Park Hospital) is seeking to appoint a Clinical Fellow in Neurorehabilitation Medicine at FY3/CMT level, to commence immediately for a period of 6 – 12 months.

The post is based at the ten bed Somerset Neuro Rehabilitation Service (SNRC), located in the village of Cotford St Luke, 4 miles outside Taunton. This consultant led unit provides specialist neurorehabilitation for people in Somerset with acquired brain injury, other neurological conditions like Guillain-Barre Syndrome/Multiple Sclerosis and some spinal cord injuries.

SNRC is staffed by an interdisciplinary team comprising highly experienced nurses, neuro-physiotherapists, neuro-occupational therapists, neuro-speech and language therapists and clinical psychologist, with ready access to dietitians and social workers. Team members are long established and work in close harmony to achieve rehabilitation goals. The Clinical Fellow will be responsible for daily management of medical problems and assisting in delivery of rehabilitation goals based around the weekly MDT meeting.

Taunton has an excellent reputation for training and we expect the post-holders to develop and enhance their skills during their tenure, including the option of specialist clinic attendance, and the post holder should be able, subject to clinical pressure, to join the regular teaching program for our trainees (FT2 or CMT level as needed). Some candidates may want to enhance their CV during a period outside of a training programme, and we would be happy to discuss the options for career development that can be supported alongside this post.
