King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust part of King's Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre (AHSC), is one of the UK’s largest and busiest teaching hospitals with a turnover of nearly £1 billion, 1.5 million patient contacts a year and more than 12,600 staff based across 5 main sites in South East London and Kent.

The Trust provides a full range of local hospital services across its different sites, and specialist services from King’s College Hospital (KCH) site in Camberwell and the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) site in Bromley, Orpington Hospital, and some services at Beckenham Beacon and Queen Mary’s Sidcup.

The Trust is recognised internationally for its work in liver disease and transplantation, neurosciences, cardiac, haemato-oncology, fetal medicine, stroke, major trauma, and Emergency Department.

Applications are invited for a 12 month fixed term, full-time consultant in rheumatology at Denmark Hill.

The Department of Rheumatology is a dynamic, forward thinking department delivering a range of rheumatology services within the division of non-acute specialty medicine. It provides specialist clinics in inflammatory arthritis, connective tissue diseases and metabolic bone disorders. The service is outpatient focussed, with facilities for day care and in-patient care when needed.

The post holder will provide outpatient clinics as well as supporting the care of inpatients. Ideally we are looking for a candidate with an interest in CTD and vasculitis but there is a degree of flexibility with the job plan and we would consider candidates with a wide range of subspecialty interests. It is anticipated that the successful applicant would be able to support the research unit, and therefore a strong research background is important.

The department welcomes applications from candidates with wide experience in all aspects of rheumatology, culminating in award of CCT or equivalent. Applicants should also have experience in the day to day organisation of rheumatology services in a busy teaching hospital, experience of undergraduate and post-graduate teaching and of research. Successful candidates will possess CCT or eligible to apply for a Consultant position pending completion of CCT and must be fully registered with the GMC.
