Senior Training Fellow - Vascular Surgery
An opportunity is available to join the Vascular Surgical team based in one of the UK's major teaching hospitals at an exciting time in its history. University Hospitals of North Midlands (UHNM) has a specialist vascular surgery unit and is hub of the Staffordshire and South Cheshire Vascular Network serving most of Staffordshire and South Cheshire. The arterial hub is at Royal Stoke University Hospital (RSUH) Stoke-on-Trent with spoke sites at Leighton Hospital Crewe, Queens Hospital Burton and County Hospital Stafford. This is a replacement post in what is one of the largest vascular networks in England.
This post holder will have a mixture of major vascular operating lists, clinics and day case lists at RSUH and day case lists at Burton Hospital. The vascular surgeons are supported by a comprehensive interventional radiology service (deemed to have exemplar status by BSIR) with 7 full time vascular interventional radiologists, a dedicated hybrid suite and a vascular lab. UHNM offers a wide range of clinical services including cardiothoracic surgery and neurosurgery and became a Major Trauma Centre in March 2012. The Staffordshire and the South Cheshire Vascular Network and the AAA screening programme were formed at the same time.
Applicants must be registered with the GMC and show evidence of experience in vascular and endovascular surgery. A place on the Specialist register would be an advantage
The on call commitments will be to the Vascular Surgery on call rota on a 1:6 basis overall and when on call Consultants are free from elective commitments.
