An opportunity has arisen for a consultant to join our enthusiastic and progressive Older Person’s Unit. We invite you to apply for this 1 year fixed term post (with potential to become permanent) which has arisen due to a combination of increased senior support for the front door of the hospital and maternity leave.
This is a full time post on one of our acute OPU wards and with our multidisciplinary ‘Frailty Flying Squad’ providing rapid CGA to newly admitted patients.
The department has a strong focus on quality improvement with active participation in the whole hospital Improving Together programme. The department consists of 5 wards for older people, 17 other consultants, 5 SpRs, numerous trainees and 14 medical nurse practitioners. Several Consultants have research interests and teach undergraduates from Bristol Medical School.
We would actively encourage involvement in development of services or other aspects of geriatric medicine. There is a separate Geriatric Medical take and the post holders will take a share in that; 1 in 12 on call (pro rata), 1 in 6 weekends with 2 Consultants in working either at the front door or reviewing ward patients with nurse practitioners.
The Royal United is a 611 bedded district general hospital, close to the centre of the historic city of Bath, serving a catchment population of 500 000 people.
Bath offers excellent shopping, entertainment and sports facilities. Candidates must possess or be within 6 months of possessing CCT in Geriatric Medicine.
