Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals is the regional teaching hospital, providing general acute services to Brighton and Hove and Mid Sussex and tertiary services for patients across Sussex and the south east of England. Working as one hospital across two sites in Brighton and Haywards Heath, we treat over half a million patients a year.
Applications are invited for a Consultant(s) to join the team of 18 Consultants in the Department of Intensive Care Medicine at the Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals. The successful applicant(s) will participate fully in the management of the 53 Critical Care beds at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, and Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath.
The Department will be expanding its bed numbers significantly over the next 2 years to a purpose built 54 bed ICU as part of the 3Ts build (see web site for details) and new substantive Consultant posts will be being sought in the intervening period.
The timetable will allow the candidate to continue to pursue their complimentary specialty interest in anaesthesia, acute medicine, critical care or emergency medicine.
The Critical Care Units currently treat over 2500 patients a year, run an effective outreach service, have an active research and audit program, and train Intensive Care Medicine CCT registrars. The Royal Sussex County Hospital has been identified as the Major Trauma Centre for the region.
Please refer to the person specification in the job description with regards to CCT requirements.
In the interest of equal opportunities, we want to make sure that information about candidates is provided in the same format so all applicants should fill in the standard application form on the NHS Jobs website and attach their cv.
Please be aware that candidates will be informed by email of the outcome of their application.
