We are seeking general Radiologists, preferably with a subspecialty interest in one or more of cardiac CT, Neuroradiology, Paediatric Radiology and Nuclear Medicine. An ability to perform basic intervention (e.g. biopsies, drainages etc.) would be very helpful.
We are in an exciting transition phase for the department as we begin a 10-year, £20 million programme of equipment replacement. Hampshire Hospitals is also one of 21 trusts across the country allocated seed funding as part of the government’s hospital improvement programme (HIP2), in order to begin work on the creation of a new acute hospital (2025 – 2030).
Our two acute sites at Basingstoke and Winchester provide radiography, ultrasound, CT, MRI and interventional radiology services, most standard clinical specialties are provided at both sites. The Winchester site houses the hyper-acute stroke unit for the trust and is developing a cardiac CT service. The Breast Screening Unit is located at Winchester. The Basingstoke site houses a tertiary pseudomyxoma and peritoneal malignancy unit, tertiary liver surgery unit, and a tertiary haemophilia centre. The Basingstoke site is also a designated trauma unit within the Trauma Network. Nuclear Medicine is situated on the Basingstoke Site.
The Andover site currently offers radiography and ultrasound. It is being developed as a cold imaging centre and will soon house a modular CT scanner and possibly MRI in the future. Smaller community imaging facilities also exist at Alton (radiography and ultrasound). Our community sites are being considered in STP plans for enhanced community diagnostic radiology hubs. Tertiary links are in place with Southampton, Oxford, Guildford and Frimley for various clinical pathways.
