Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Fellow (Higher) in Medicine for the Elderly at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, part of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.  This post is available from 12 October 2020 for a period of 12 months.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join the Department of Medicine for the Elderly as we develop services within the Trust.  Applicants will be expected to provide StR Level (ST3+) medical cover for a core ward of 27 medical in-patients working as part of a multi-professional team.

There will be an opportunity to gain excellent experience in the management of frail older patients to develop your PDP.  There may also be opportunities to attend out-patient clinics and service evaluations if this is of interest to the successful applicant.

This post is available to applicants who have clinical experience and qualifications equivalent to ST3+ level.

The post holder will also be expected to contribute to the General Internal Medicine Registrar rota.  This is a commitment of 6 weeks in every 44 weeks.  As this rota is written on a rolling basis, it is expected that this post will contribute no more than 8 weeks during a 12 month post.  This will include night shifts, on take cover and post take ward rounds.  The timetable is flexible and according to the successful candidate’s needs.

Please note that this post does not carry Postgraduate Dean’s approval or training recognition.

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS / OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.

Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at time of application is required.

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.

From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement.
