Lower Stondon Surgery
A rural, GMS, dispensing practice in mid/east Bedfordshire covering 6000
Three partners and a salaried GP working from partner owned premises with
a current planning application in place to extensively expand. We are
commissioned by Bedfordshire CCG and a member of the Ivel Valley South
We are a forward thinking yet traditional practice with what we describe as
consultant levels of patient care. We consistently have one of the lowest
levels of A&E and emergency admission rates in Bedfordshire and have
always remained within our CCG drug budget.
High quality care has resulted in low levels of consultation rates and an
excellent work life balance. We do not provide cover to any care homes and
have an exceptionally low home visit rate.
Workload is shared equally between all doctors. An average day comprises;
Ten 15 minute consultations, half pre-booked and
then 3-4 emergency consultations at midday.
Evening session - Eight 15 minute consultations, half pre-booked with
the occasional emergency at 6pm.
Along with 2-3 visits per week results in early half days or long lunch
Currently no extended hours.
Our philosophy is to provide as much care within the practice as possible; All
chronic care, minor surgery, joint injections, family planning, phlebotomy and
High levels of QOF attainment, high levels of patient satisfaction and the only
practice within our PCN not to have required a CQC visit since the initial
‘good’ assessment in April 2017.
