CLINICAL FELLOW IN OBSTETRICS AND GYNAECOLOGY (ST3+ LEVEL)

Somerset NHS Foundation Trust are looking for an enthusiastic colleague as a clinical fellow in obstetrics and gynaecology to join our team from 1st of Aug 2020 for a period of 12-24 months. This post is based at Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton. The successful candidate will have full GMC registration and ideally RCOG membership (MRCOG) and 2nd on call experience ie SpR level in general obstetrics and gynaecology. The candidate is expected to have basic clinical skills in assessing and identifying sick patients and competency in general obstetrics and gynaecology at ST3+ level (mandatory).
We are looking for an enthusiastic doctor with registrar level experience in general obstetrics and gynaecology with an interest to develop further skills in teaching and also quality improvement projects to join our team as a Clinical fellow in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Musgrove Park Hospital. The post will start as soon as possible, notice and covid situation allowing. The successful candidate will have GMC registration and SpR level NHS experience and appropriate familiarity within the field.
The candidate will join an already well established team, which includes Consultants with special interests in Urogynaecology, Menstrual Dysfunction, Minimal Access surgery, Endometriosis, Fetal Medicine and Maternal Medicine. We have a Gynaecological Oncology team which includes three Consultant colleagues, two of whom are sub specialty trained and a Lead Consultant Gynaecologist who runs the Gynae-oncology service including the Colposcopy and Post-Menopausal Bleeding Service. The selected candidate will have allocated weekly protected sessions to develop his/her area of interest including gaining formal experience/qualification in teaching and also getting involved with Quality Improvement projects within the department under direct supervision of our consultant team.
The job would suit someone who is looking to boost up their CV and the successful candidate is expected to be heavily engaged in completion of presentations/projects for submission to national/international minimal access conferences in this 12-24 months placement. The job involves teaching commitments for medical students (around 2 hours/week) and ownership and completion of quality improvements/service provision projects in the field of Obstetrics and Benign gynaecology. The job offers participation in the general obstetrics/gynaecology SpR rota. Post CCT applicants wishing to expand their clinical/teaching skills are encouraged to apply.
Musgrove Park Hospital is a busy District General Hospital providing acute and community services to 330,000 people living in the west side of Somerset and tertiary gynaecological oncology referrals from East Somerset and West Dorset, via Yeovil District General Hospital. Taunton is situated in the south-west of England in the county town of Taunton, just off the M5 motorway, 37 miles north of Exeter, 48 miles south of Bristol. Taunton is under 2 hours by rail from London.
