NHS Tayside are seeking a committed, General Practitioner (GP) to help deliver sustainable services to meet the needs of the changing demographics and health needs of our population in Lochee, Dundee
Working in partnership with the Lead GP, Practice Manager, Lead ANP and supported by the 2C Clinical lead, the post-holder will be part of a Collaborative Leadership structure, taking a key role in development activity and projects within the practice, with a work plan mutually agreed.  This could involve review of protocols, documentation, clinical governance, audit activity, training and research. You will work with the rest of the practice team to develop and support the implementation of a practice development plan which reflects the needs of the practice population and promotes the practice as an exemplar with reference to the GMS contract Scotland 2018
Lochee Medical Practice is a Board run (2c) practice delivering services to a practice population of just over 4000 patients in a population with historically high levels of deprivation (top 7% of socially deprived populations in Scotland). There is a slightly higher proportion of younger people and families
As one of 4 Board run practices in NHS Tayside you will have support from leaders within the Practice, and from the Professional Clinical Development Lead for 2c practices.  You will also work in collaboration with Dundee Cluster 3 to develop services and quality improvement programs as are agreed
You will be working with a well-established extended multi-disciplinary team, which includes community nurses, physiotherapy, podiatry, mental health and wellbeing nurse and listening therapy services
You will be encouraged to develop your own portfolio of interests within the practice supported by the Lead GP.  You will be given protected time (10%) to help you to do this and to support your personal CPD
The practice which runs from a Board owned premise has recently been extensively redeveloped into an upgraded modern community hub with excellent clinical and IT facilities.   There are over 25 clinical rooms, three meeting rooms with IT facilities including remote access and teleconferencing facilities, a modern IT suite, a community kitchen and staff facilities
Lochee Health & Community Care Centre has developed into a well-functioning, well organised and fun place to work.  It has a highly motivated multidisciplinary team excelling as part of a collaborative leadership framework, intent to move the practice into its next phase of development.  This will involve developing services including mental and sexual health, consolidating, and developing quality processes and outcomes in keeping with the new GMS contract Scotland 2018 and developing and attaining GP training approval
Although this Salaried GP post is 30 hours (usually over 6 sessions) we would consider applicants looking for an alternative number of sessions and will consider different hours of working
This post provides a unique opportunity for GPs who wish to combine clinical practice with protected time for personal and professional development.  Objectives and workplan will be mutually agreed with the Lead GP and you will be provided with mentoring and support as required
Developing and nurturing our GP workforce is a priority for us in Tayside, and this post offers 33 days annual leave +8 public holidays, as well as regular, weekly protected time (10%) for personal study and development
Dundee is undergoing significant development as part of a city-wide regeneration project and this is an exciting time to live and work in a city undergoing a period of transformational change. Dundee was voted in the top 10 places to visit by the Wall Street Journal in 2018 and the best place to live in Scotland by the Sunday times 2019 and mentioned again by the same paper 2020. The University of Dundee was voted the best in Scotland by the national student survey in 2015.   Dundee boasts an enviable international reputation within life and biosciences and is a world leader in video games technology and has a rapidly developing international service market.   The city is home to Kengo Kuma's visionary V&A museum perched on the water’s edge, and a vibrant social scene is exploding around the redeveloped waterfront.   The housing market is strong with a range of property including traditional houses built during the time of the cities "jute jam and journalism" and modern apartment or waterfront living
