These two new Consultant Radiology posts are required to support increased activity in cross-sectional imaging at the Royal Marsden. This is due to continued expansion of the cross-sectional service to meet the demands of the national cancer targets and to facilitate clinical trials research. The post holders will require in-depth knowledge and experience in oncological CT and MR imaging, including body MRI. There may also be a requirement to undertake general ultrasound and competency in performing ultrasound guided diagnostic biopsies would be an advantage. There will be a requirement to participate in MDT activity which forms a significant proportion of the radiology department’s work.
One post offers the opportunity for those with recognised Nuclear Medicine expertise to incorporate general nuclear medicine and PET-CT imaging into the job plan. A subspecialist interest in Head & Neck or Renal oncology would be an advantage but is not essential.
The second post will be purely cross-sectional Imaging. A subspecialist interest in gastrointestinal imaging would be an advantage but is not essential as there will be opportunity to develop areas of subspecialist interest.
The post holders will join an enthusiastic, cohesive team which is motivated to deliver excellence in clinical care and participate in radiology research and innovation.
The Royal Marsden Hospital has branches in central London and Surrey, and the post will involve working at both sites. There will be an on-call commitment as second on-call for diagnostic imaging in rotation with other colleagues.
Applicants should hold a CCT in Diagnostic Radiology or be within three months of gaining CCT. FRCR or equivalent and full specialist registration with the GMC are essential. Some research experience would be an advantage. Any candidate who wishes to be considered for part-time working is welcome to apply.
