An exciting opportunity has arisen to join UHB Trust Hospitals for a full-time Consultant Urology with a specialist interest in complex Stone surgery.


The postholder will be expected to provide both Acute and elective Ureteroscopy and PCNL services across all sites and the delivery of lithrotripsy service using the static lithtrotripter at Queen Elizabeth (QE) Hospital. The postholder will also contribute to Endourology services for the regional kidney transplant unit based in QE. This service include endourology management of transplant ureteric problems, stones in the transplant kidney and dealing with a cohort of renal transplant patients managed by yearly stent changes.


The department consist of a total of 22 Consultants, 2 Associate Specialist and 12 Specialty Doctors across all sites. The department is extremely well equipped with the most advanced technology and is supported by CNS and nursing team in the ward. The unit has a major interest in stone, undertaking >100 PCNLs per year.


The Terms and Conditions of service are offered on a 10 Programmed Activity basis.


The ability to communicate and work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team is vital. It is also anticipated that the successful candidate would contribute to increasing the national profile of the department.


A strong commitment from the appointee to the Department and involvement with governance and audit is expected.
