King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust part of King's Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre (AHSC), is one of the UK’s largest and busiest teaching hospitals with a turnover of nearly £1 billion, 1.5 million patient contacts a year and more than 12,600 staff based across 5 main sites in South East London and Kent.

The Trust provides a full range of local hospital services across its different sites, and specialist services from King’s College Hospital (KCH) site in Camberwell and the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) site in Bromley, Orpington Hospital, and some services at Beckenham Beacon and Queen Mary’s Sidcup.

The Trust is recognised internationally for its work in liver disease and transplantation, neurosciences, cardiac, haemato-oncology, fetal medicine, stroke, major trauma, and Emergency Department.

Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Sexual Health and HIV in this forward looking and busy Sexual Health & HIV department. The post is based primarily at the Denmark Hill site at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust with potential cross cover at the Beckenham Beacon site. The post will initially be for 6 months and subject to review.

The role involves a mix of Sexual Health and HIV outpatient work and the post-holder will also be required to take on the role of Adult and Child Safeguarding lead for the Sexual Health and HIV service. The post holder will also contribute to service development with particular focus on post-COVID recovery plans.

Our service is situated in an area of South London with high local prevalence of HIV and significant levels of sexual ill health. Our diverse local population is disproportionally affected by high STI rates, unplanned pregnancies, repeat abortions and late diagnosis of HIV. In addition to the busy clinical service, the department has an active teaching and training programme and a wide-ranging portfolio of research studies, in both Sexual Health and HIV, which the successful candidate will be expected to actively contribute to.
