Ngā mōhiohio e pā ana ki ēnei mahi (About these positions)

Position 1: We are looking for a fixed-term 0.8 - 1.0 cardiologist to join our team in late 2020. Core skills sought are pacemaker and, if possible, defibrillator implantation. Additional interest in the other non-invasive and invasive specialist areas of cardiology, in line with the service described below are welcome and will be fostered. Although this position is based in Nelson you will provide a district-wide service across both Nelson and Wairau hospital sites. Applicants are expected to be involved in a 1:5 general cardiology on call roster.  

Position 2: We are also looking for a permanent interventional cardiologist to join our team. Nelson operates an interventional cardiac service and requires a new clinician to provide an ongoing service.

Depending on the other skills the individual brings the role will be between 0.8 and 1.0 FTE. Although this position is based in Nelson you will provide a district-wide service across both Nelson and Wairau hospital sites.

Applicants are expected to be involved in a 1:5 general cardiology on call roster, 1:2 interventional on call roster.

Nelson has a full interventional service providing PCI and pacemaker and implantable defibrillator insertion, and a progressive non-interventional service including advanced echocardiography, heart failure, GUCH, cardiac MRI and CTCA.

We are looking for specialists who are ready to bring their skills and experience to a smaller provincial hospital and enjoy the lifestyle that this affords.

You will have vocational registration with the New Zealand Medical Council and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP), or be eligible for the same. For the interventional role you must have qualifications.

Salary for this position will be as per the current senior medical and dental officer collective agreement dependent on skills, experience and gaining full vocational registration in NZ.
