The Trust is recognised internationally for its work in liver disease and transplantation, neurosciences, cardiac, haemato-oncology, fetal medicine, stroke, major trauma, and Emergency Department.

Medical Education Fellow (OOPTE) - PGMDE Department 2 x 1 year contracts working at King’s based at Denmark Hill and the Princess Royal University Hospital site in Orpington on a rotational basis.

Start date will be from the first Wednesday in August 2020 or will be dependent on the applicants training post contract.

An exciting opportunity has become available for the post of Medical Education Fellow. This post is designed to provide a wide range of educational experience for SpRs/StRs who wish to make a commitment to education as part of their career. This is a twelve month ‘out of programme (OOPTE) post aimed at those who wish to build on their personal teaching experience to develop expertise in educational theory and practice, and undertake supervised educational research.

Although an enthusiasm for teaching is a prerequisite, no assumptions will be made about formal knowledge of educational theory or practice. Hands-on teaching will be central to the post, as will a critical engagement with educational issues around providing postgraduate training in a changing context, both nationally and locally.

This post is designed for a entry to ST3 to CCT level trainees to: • Develop/ expand their skills in Human Patient Simulation (HPS) and Medical Education • Gain experience in a wide range of medical education activities • Provide an opportunity to undertake research in Medical Education

The post potentially counts towards part of CCST training depending on the post holder’s individual circumstances. Depending on the requirements of the successful applicant there will be an opportunity to maintain their clinical portfolio.
