Consultants in Acute Medicine x 4
RAIGMORE HOSPITAL, INVERNESS
(with the option of rural general hospital rotation)
CONSULTANTS IN ACUTE MEDICINE x 4
10 PA per post (less than full time hours will be considered)
Acute medicine in the Highlands is an exciting and dynamic job. Our geography is world renowned; it is not only a stunning place to live and travel but has a vibrant and friendly culture. The acute medicine team provide high quality patient care in Raigmore, the Highlands main hospital in Inverness. We are fortunate to have a new purpose-designed AMU (acute medical unit) and Medical HDU with state-of-the-art facilities.
We also provide a rotational model of Consultants to Caithness General, one of the rural general hospitals in NHS Highland, 105 miles north of Inverness. We have adopted a very successful rotational model between 6 consultants who support 4 days a week. It is exciting and dynamic work in a small rural hospital, providing high quality care whilst being involved in acute admissions, resuscitating and transferring the critically unwell.
Each post is offered on the basis of 10 programmed activities per week in Acute Medicine, but we also encourage potential colleagues who seek less than whole time work or portfolio careers. There is the potential to develop research interests through an increasingly vibrant research facility based in the Centre for Health Sciences (www.centreforhealthscience.com). Undergraduate and Postgraduate teaching forms a significant part of the current Acute Physicians’ portfolio and any applicant would be welcome to develop a teaching interest.
Applicants must be on the Specialist Register with a Licence to Practice and in possession of, or within 6 months of obtaining CCT in Acute Internal Medicine or General Internal Medicine at the time of the interview.
Please contact Dr Duncan Scott, Clinical Lead for Acute Medicine (tel 01463 706321, firstname.lastname@example.org) or Dr Grant Franklin, Consultant in Acute Medicine (email@example.com) or Dr Claire Vincent, Consultant in Acute Muedicine (firstname.lastname@example.org).
