Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust is looking to recruit Consultants in Acute Medicine at both our Alexandra General Hospital and Worcester Royal Hospital sites. We offer all major disciplines and a full range of support services and tailor job plans to enable commitment to your specialist interest. We provide high quality inpatient and outpatient care to a population of 700,000. This is an exciting time to join the trust as we are undergoing countywide reconfiguration of clinical services, including an expansion and relocation of the ambulatory assessment centre which has just been completed.

As a suitably trained Specialist, your application is invited to join our enthusiastic team of acute care physicians working in our dedicated acute ambulatory assessment, medical admissions units and short stay wards across the county, supported by junior medical and nursing staff.

Along with ambulatory care and in patient short stay admissions, you will play an active part in the acute take and the medical high care area on a rolling rota with our expanding team of acute physicians.

You will have the opportunity to facilitate further development of the acute ambulatory and admissions services within the trust. You will pioneer the nurse-led triage service which facilitates GP admissions countywide to offer continued improvements in the assessment and treatment of emergency medical patients. There may be an opportunity for a leadership role within the acute medicine department for an appropriately qualified and interested candidate. The posts are site based and interviews will be held for positions on both acute Trust sites.

The trust has a strong commitment to the teaching of undergraduate students from the University of Birmingham. This post would be ideal for candidates completing their specialist training or those with other specialist interests who wish to diversify.

You must possess full registration with a license to Practice with the General Medical Council and have completed higher training and be on the Specialist Register, or be within 6 months of obtaining CCT at the time of interview. Fixed term (Trust locum) posts will also be considered.
