Locum Consultant in Emergency Surgery

This is an exciting post for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join as Locum Consultant Emergency General Surgery to support Surgical ambulatory and Assessment Unit (SAAU) within King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Princess Royal University Hospital Site.The successful applicant will join a dedicated team of Consultants providing complete pathway solutions from initial triage and assessment to surgery and post-operative care. The post holder will be expected to support the General and Emergency surgery service alongside existing Consultants and specialist nurses as part of the multi-disciplinary team approach to care. He/she will provide high quality outpatient, day case and inpatient care to local patients and support the cancer waiting time standards and RTT 18 weeks. Their work is supported by an on call rota which includes other Consultant General Surgery colleagues.
This post is available to commence ASAP for 6 months but with a view to extend where appropriate.
The Princess Royal University Hospital Campus The Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH), at Farnborough Common, Orpington, Kent is an acute district general hospital. It has 525 funded beds, and approximately 80,000 emergency attendances per annum. It serves a population of about 500,000 from Bromley and Bexley. The services currently provided include: Urgent Care, Emergency Medicine, Acute and General medicine with sub-specialties including Cardiology, Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Acute Frailty Unit, Elderly Care, Intensive Care, Oncology, Surgery, Trauma & Orthopaedics, Urology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Maternity and Paediatrics, Hyper acute and Acute Stroke services for provided for the South East Sector of London. The PRUH is a Level 2 Trauma Unit and a member of the TARN.
The hospital is based in outer South East London in the London Borough of Bromley. The area provides fast public transport links into central London via mainline railway connections.
