Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Gastroenterology and Intestinal Failure, based at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge.

The Gastroenterology Service Delivery Unit (Lead Dr Jeremy Woodward) incorporates Endoscopy (Lead Dr Dunecan Massey). The post holder will work primarily in Gastroenterology and Endoscopy. The post will include working in all aspects of artificial nutrition support including enteral and parenteral nutrition and contributing to the National Adult Multivisceral Transplant Service and the National Refractory Coeliac Service based in Addenbrooke’s as well as contributing to the general gastroenterology and endoscopy workload.

The department of Gastroenterology is a forward thinking dynamic unit providing a full range of services for patients with digestive diseases. The department is involved with cutting edge research into coeliac disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and oesophageal malignancy and has strong research links through the biomedical campus. There is full provision for inpatient and outpatient treatment for patients with luminal gastroenterology disorders; this includes providing a full range of endoscopic services.

The department has a formal CPD programme, providing weekly educational meetings as well as periodic research symposia. There are also weekly MDTs for gastroenterology and intestinal failure/multivisceral transplant.

You will be fully registered with the GMC and ideally have a CCT in Gastroenterology and/or General (internal) medicine or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview. Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share.

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013).
