King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s largest and busiest teaching hospitals with over 1.5 million patient contacts a year and more than 13,000 staff based across five main sites in South East London and Kent.

The Trust provides a full range of local hospital services across its different sites, and specialist services from King’s College Hospital (KCH) site in Camberwell and the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) site in Bromley, Orpington Hospital, and some services at Beckenham Beacon and Queen Mary’s Sidcup.

The Trust is recognised internationally for its work in liver disease and transplantation, neurosciences, cardiac, haemato-oncology, fetal medicine, stroke, major trauma, and Emergency Department.

King’s is a key partner in one of London's foremost Academic Health Science Centres, King's Health Partners (KHP). KHP is one of only six Department of Health-designated AHSCs in England. It brings together a world-leading research-led university – King’s College London – and three successful NHS Foundation Trusts: King’s College Hospital, Guy’s and St Thomas’, and South London and Maudsley.

This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of our dedicated workforce and join one of the largest and most successful Foundation Trusts in the UK with an international reputation for innovation and the desire to make a difference.

King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Denmark Hill is at an exciting phase of transformation and investment in our acute and general medicine services. The Modernising Medicine programme involves over £3m investment in staffing alone as well as a significant capital investment in the hospital Estates and infrastructure. We have a range of opportunities and welcome candidates who are keen to shape new models of care, building upon areas of good practice at King’s and drawing on innovative practices at a regional and a national level.

As part of this programme, King’s College Hospital is looking for enthusiastic and committed individuals to join our team of Geriatricians in the Department of Clinical Gerontology at Denmark Hill.

This is a dynamic department with a strong track record in delivering innovative pathways of care, high quality multi-professional training and academic research.

King’s is in a privileged position having been a key partner in developing integrated older people’s services across health and social care and the third sector over recent years. As a member of King’s Health Partners, an Academic Health Sciences Centre, it offers unique opportunities to continue to improve services underpinned by cutting edge research.

The posts are ideal for aspiring clinical leaders holding a CCT in Geriatric Medicine and General Internal medicine or within 6 months of completing specialist training.

We are looking for excellent communicators who are committed to service improvement as well as patient care.

There are 2 new substantive posts that are available supporting inpatient services and frailty pathways with opportunities to develop trauma and other surgical liaison models.

Other subspecialty interests can be accommodated and we would strongly support academic and research interests. The post holders will be expected to contribute to an unselected General Medical on call Rota as well as develop our 7-day Frailty service commitment.

You must be fully registered with the GMC and hold a Licence to Practice and be on the Specialist Register, or within six months of attaining your CCT or equivalent to be eligible for interview.

The postholder will have regular contact with vulnerable adults and/or children (0-18 years), therefore this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975, and as such, it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
