Scotland’s first modern hospice, St Columba’s Hospice first opened its doors in 1977. Over the years, it has grown and evolved into an exemplary provider of specialist palliative care for thousands of people with life-limiting illnesses in Edinburgh and the Lothians annually, while also providing support to their relatives and loved ones. We currently have the following opportunity to join the Hospice team:

Specialty Doctor in Palliative Medicine

7 PAs per week (including weekend work) plus on call

*Available from the middle of October*

Applications are invited for this Specialty Doctor post comprising 3 weekdays, weekend work (9am-3pm Saturday and Sunday – 1 in 8 frequency) and the occasional late (6pm) weekday finish. There is an additional overnight on-call commitment, currently one-week night every five weeks.

We’re committed to delivering the highest standards of hospice and end of life care to people with active, progressive, far advanced illness in whatever setting most appropriate. This permanent post is an opportunity to join our highly motivated and innovative multi-disciplinary team providing high quality care initially based in the Hospice inpatient unit. You would be joining us at a key time in the outworking of our ambitious new strategy

St. Columba’s Hospice Care is a leading Specialist Palliative Care Service, providing inpatient facilities for 22 patients, a range of Community based palliative care services and a busy and productive Education and Research Centre. In addition to clinical activities, the successful applicant will participate in teaching and training, and be part of the Hospice clinical governance framework.

Experience in Palliative Medicine is highly desirable but not essential, and applicants must have full registration with the General Medical Council, with a current licence to practise.
