To complement our existing teams, Public Health Wales is seeking to appoint a highly motivated, enthusiastic Public Health Specialist to the post of Consultant in Communicable Disease Control / Consultant in Health Protection within our Health Protection Division.
The Health Protection Division of Public Health Wales provides surveillance of communicable disease and environmental hazard exposures, prevention and control of infectious disease, environmental public health services and laboratory services in Wales. As part of the team you will provide specialist advice and input on a range of health protection issues, leading on the response to outbreaks and incidents in the community or healthcare settings as required.
The local work of the national Health Protection teams support the seven Health Boards across Wales in discharging their statutory responsibilities for health protection, and work closely with the Directors of Public Health. In addition, and by agreement with the Professional Lead for Health Protection, you will have the opportunity to support a defined portfolio area working on an all Wales basis.
Candidates must be included on the GMC Specialist Register in Public Health, Microbiology or Infectious Diseases Medicine, or UK Public Health Register for Public Health Specialists.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post, English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
