In response to COVID-19, Wales has implemented a Test, Trace and Protect Programme.

As part of the Public Health Wales National Health Protection Cell, we are seeking Public Health Consultants to join our temporary bank rota on a variety of hours and shifts to support the delivery of the COVID-19 Response.

In addition to the requirements stated within the attached role profile, our Consultant bank staff are required to support the specialist health protection team staff, to provide advice to Health Board regional teams on complex contact tracing issues, escalated to the National Health Protection Team. Working as part of the National Health Protection Team (HPT), with a focus in one of the 7 regional areas, you will closely collaborate with the lead Consultant in Communicable Disease Control/Consultant in Health Protection and deputise for them at Strategic Regional Meetings as required.

Applications are invited for suitably experienced and qualified individuals in Public Health, including individuals with specific Health Protection experience.

The successful individuals will have experience of public health practice and be able to demonstrate developed influencing, negotiation and motivation skills to drive transformational change to improve population health outcomes. The post-holder must be on the GMC/GDC Specialist Register/UK Voluntary Register for Public Health Specialists or within 6 months of obtaining CCT at the time of interview.

Although remote working will be a requirement of the role, there will be some occasions where it is essential that you are able to attend either of our main offices in Cardiff (Capital Quarter), Swansea (Matrix House), or Mold (Bangor).

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
