Applications are invited for a Locum Consultant in Cardiology at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, co-located with Royal Papworth Hospital on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. This is a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our established clinical team.

This post is available from 1st October 2020, and will be for 6 months in the first instance. We are seeking a colleague to contribute to Echocardiography within Addenbrooke’s Hospital and to General Cardiology, including on-call (expected up to 8 weeks per year) and clinics. In December 2019, the British Society of Echocardiography awarded our department accreditation for both training and standard transthoracic echocardiography.

Our goal is to successfully integrate high quality preclinical cardiovascular science with a world-leading clinical trials organisation, operating in a University / Hospital partnership. This has been given considerable impetus by the recent re-location of Royal Papworth Hospital - one of the UK’s largest cardiothoracic hospitals to the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.

You will be fully registered with the GMC and ideally have a CCT in Cardiology (or equivalent) or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview. Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share.

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013).

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.

From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement.
Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is an Equal Opportunities Employer.
