CONSULTANT IN GASTROENTEROLOGY WITH AN INTEREST IN NUTRITION

Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Gastroenterology at Nottingham University Hospitals’ NHS Trust. This offers the opportunity to join a cohesive and progressive gastroenterology and hepatology department with a strong clinical and academic national profile.

This is an exciting opportunity to appoint to a full-time consultant position with an interest in Nutrition. The post holder is expected to have broad experience of gastroenterology and endoscopy, contributing to the core Gastroenterology elective and emergency service; however, we seek applicants who have a particular interest in Nutrition, to join our diverse team.

NUH is one of the largest tertiary NHS Trusts in the country and is a referral centre for the Mid Trent Cancer Network, which covers a population of over 2 million. The appointee will be fully trained in the management of patients with acute and chronic gastroenterological conditions and in managing acute GI emergencies, including GI bleeding, and able to contribute to the acute GI on-call service at the Queen’s Medical Centre (QMC) and Nottingham City Hospital (NCH) campus, currently as part of a 1:14 consultant-led and registrar supported 24 hour rota. The full-time post is based on a 10 Programmed Activity (PA) job plan which does not include general medicine.

The successful applicant will join a team of 22 gastroenterologists (12 NHS and 10 academic) and 8 hepatologists, fully supported by specialist nurses and advanced diagnostic services, and be a core member of the Gastroenterology team. We also have excellent links and opportunities with the Nottingham Digestive Diseases Biomedical Centre (NDD BRC) conducting translational research in GI, clinical nutrition and liver specific areas.
