Post: Full Time (1wte) Community Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry

Community base in Coventry

This is a strategically important post, as it enables dedicated Consultant input into community care and treatment, with the facility for rapid assessment of referred patients, flexible review of complex patients and timely discharge in liaison with General Practitioners. The post holder will provide clinical leadership to two integrated practice units (IPU 3-8 & IPU 18-21) which deliver specialist mental health services for patients presenting with organic and functional problems.

You will be a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, or have an equivalent postgraduate qualification in Psychiatry, have full GMC Registration, eligibility for inclusion on the Specialist Register in psychiatry (or a Specialty Trainee within 6 months of completing CCT), Approved clinician status under the Mental Health Act and a minimum of 6 years postgraduate experience in Psychiatry including substantial training / experience in General Adult Psychiatry or Old Age Psychiatry (dependent upon post).

You will need to have a valid driving licence and access to an appropriate means of independent transport commensurate with the travelling required to fulfil the role.

The new HS2 train line passes near Coventry and Warwickshire and stations are very close in neighbouring Birmingham.

Birmingham Airport is on the East side of Birmingham and is a 30 minute car journey from Coventry city centre.
