Consultant Physician with special interest in Orthogeriatrics

Based at Grange University Hospital, Llanfrechfa, Cwmbran, SE Wales

Full Time (10 Sessions)

Plus 1 Additional Temporary Sessions

 

Anticipated Start Date: October 2020

We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic, Consultant’s and to join the team at Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. This is a new post to develop the innovative and exciting service of Orthogeriatrics at all ABUHB Hospitals, within the orthopaedic department and will be the key to the development of the new innovative physician led hip fracture care pathway designed within the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.

The post holder should have a broad experience in Geriatric medicine will play a key role in the peri-operative acute medical care of elderly patients with hip fracture. The appointed Consultant is expected to lead a multidisciplinary hip fracture rehabilitation team for prompt patient centred rehabilitation and safe discharge planning.

The orthopaedic department at Royal Gwent Hospital and Nevill Hall Hospital work closely. There are bimonthly directorate meeting where colleagues work towards developing and improving the care of hip fracture patients.’

The Health Board actively supports consultant doctors to undertake funded 3 month formal sabbaticals through an annual application process.

Free parking is available across all Aneurin Bevan University Health Board Sites.

This position involves Regulated Activity with adults as defined by the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act (amended by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012) and the following checks will be undertaken following any conditional offer:

  • Enhanced check with barred list information, including    
  • - an adults barred list check

Applicants must hold full registration and a licence to practice with the GMC.

Candidates for Consultant posts must also be on the GMC Specialist Register (including via CESR/European Community Rights) or will have a CCT/CESR(CP) date within 6 months of interview.
