We are currently seeking to recruit 2 energetic, enterprising laparoscopic colorectal surgeons to further develop and modernise surgical services in this beautiful part of rural Wales.

The successful candidates will be based at Bronglais District General Hospital and will work in collaboration with the other 7 colorectal consultant surgeons currently practicing across the four acute hospitals in Hywel Dda University Health Board.

The hospital is served by excellent radiology and endoscopy capacity and has a recently installed MRI unit. The endoscopy unit is JAG accredited. MDTs are held weekly via video link with other hospitals in the Health Board and there are tertiary links to Swansea and Cardiff

The Bronglais team participate in the National Emergency Laparotomy Audit (NELA) and the mortality data is one of thebest in Wales. The surgical consultant body provide “hot clinics”across the sub specialties. Recently, with COVID-19, the rangeof services we offer via virtual means has been further embracedand enhanced.

Bronglais District General Hospital has 150 acute beds and currently serves a core population of 110,000 in a geographically large and sparsely populated area. Additional to this there is a newly refurbished A&E Department with adjacent Clinical Decisions Unit, acute medicine and the hospital supports a 24/7 take. The summertime population almost doubles due to the influx of holidaymakers and there are also a large number of university students based in Aberystwyth.

Working in Bronglais District General Hospital provides significant opportunities for a mixture of business and pleasure.
