If you are interested in a position of whole time or maximum part-time a Consultant in Acute Medicine this may be the perfect opportunity. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join and expand further our dynamic and well-respected Acute Medicine team here at Barnsley Hospital. 

The successful applicant will join a team of nine consultants. Each member of the consultant team demonstrates clinical excellence, and each brings additional skills to the team, including research, teaching, education and management. Most importantly, the team work collaboratively together.

This is a substantive post to support the management of patients within the AMU footprint, including our Short Stay Unit (SSU) and Acute Medical Ambulatory Care Unit (AMAC).

This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the leading AMU’s in the region offering exceptional support to pursue professional activities / sub specialty interests.

Any candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be considered for the posts; if such a person is appointed modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.

The current staffing is 10 Consultants, two SAS doctors, one ST4-7, and a mixture of CT3-6, CT1/GP VTS/F2 or F1 doctors. We currently have six full-time Physician Associates.

The hospital is an associate teaching hospital of the University of Sheffield and the Emergency Department is actively involved in undergraduate medical education. Candidates must be on the Specialist Register or within six months of eligibility for entry. Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is a ‘Good’ CQC-rated Hospital with a vision to moving to “Outstanding” and joining only seven other hospitals in the country with this rating.
